My name is Ken Groat, Owner and Founder of Specialized Solutions. My experience in the swimming pool industry started in Florida in 1985 and much earlier helping dad as a child. Working for my father, he always insisted on high standards. His motivation, professionalism, and attention to detail was contagious. As with the complexities of family business relationships, I found myself shying away from the added pressures and responsibilities of the time. I felt it was time to return to the city of my birth, St. Louis, Missouri.
In 1993 I accepted a job with one of the most prestigious pool builder/servicer in the area. Another family run establishment, I understood the often fragile and contemptuous nature of father and sons in business. I brought my experience to them and soon became the principal member of the service department.
In 2006, after 13 years with the company and change of ownership, my motivations led me to the fact that I should step out and realize my potential as an entrepreneur within the swimming pool industry. Specialized Solutions has allowed me the opportunity to service St. Louis swimming pools with the high standards ingrained as a young man first working with my father.
